To assist the calf manager in overseeing and providing care to dairy calves from birth through weaning to achieve maximum health, growth, and future reproductive performance.
A focus on cleanliness, organization, attention to detail, and a passion for animal agriculture are a must to be considered for this position.
This position would primarily consist of afternoon and evening hours.
Approximate shift time during weekdays would be 12 pm to 9 pm.
Rotating weekend availability is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES Work together with the calf manager and support staff to provide day-to-day care of all calves in the calf facilities (from birth to 3 months of age).
This includes, but is not limited to:
Afternoon/Evening Feeding (milk replacer, grain, and hay) Communicate effectively with the calf manager Identifying illnesses Administering treatments Assisting with vaccinations, growth data collection, and calf movements.
Cleaning & disinfecting of equipment and pens Bedding Following SOP's for day-to-day animal care Oversight of evening support staff and communication/coordination with manager of staffing needs and schedules.
Basic equipment utilization (ability to use or willingness to learn to use skid loader a plus) ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES Periodically assist in the donor barn with chores, OPU, and other SVS Repro functions at RCI.
REQUIREMENTS 1.
The needs of this business are not confined to typical workday hours.
As such, the ability and willingness to work late hours as well as weekends is required.

Providing daily care of livestock can entail lifting heavy bags, buckets, bales, etc.
The ability to safely lift and carry at least 50lbs is required.
3.
Worked with young calves (calf raising, calf feeding, dairy operation, etc.
) for at least 1 (one) year 4.
Google Sheets and Microsoft Office programs proficiency 5.
Have a valid driver's license with reliable transportation BENEFITS 1.
